A great film that was sadly overshadowed by the huge success of "Your Name." But, at least, it did get the recognition it deserved a little later on.

2024-05-25 02:13:16 +0000 UTCWhen she makes the ponytail at about 1:05:20, I am pretty sure she actually means to stop hiding her hearing aids, and also she finally talked again, what she didn't do before. Also, I really like hearing your thoughts on that. What I love about this movie is, how subtle but somehow at the same time "in your face" the themes are. It shows how everybody is flawed in their own way, but also, everyone has good sides, even fucking Ueno. This movie is one of the "soul wakers" I would call them. When I am stuck in depression, kind of loosing myself, loosing touch to my feelings, this movie awakens my feelings back in the rudest, most beautiful way. A movie where two people attempt suicide and the romance didn't even come to past (YET!) shows the value of life as well as the ugly and beautiful sides, forgiveness, self love, depression - it is so much. I always like to imagine how the story goes on. How they get better with time, and also, while I apreciate, that they didn't deviate from the problems with the romance plot and didn't make them a couple during the runtime, I still imagine for them, after some time and healing, actually becoming a great couple and a great group of friends.

The fact that the teacher don't speak up until one of his superiors are there really speaks volumes of his character, as the only grownup in the situation, he just ignored it until it reflected badly on himself. In the manga they show abit more of him just... being an asshole. Looking forward to the next movie reaction and curious what you will watch then :)
