Maxine knows what life is all about. Fun! And what’s more appropriate for that than enjoying the biggest dickus in town? Nothing strange about this life.

It seems that Patreon's video preview is working again, which is good. I like to give you a taste of the action before firing up any version of the video.

This animation in particular got me thinking. I was able to play around with rim lights quite a bit (thanks to Beowulf's great scene setup) and it was about this time that I realized 2 things. I truly needed to invest in more guidance from other artists on rim lighting and general lighting, and I would need to learn a way to mess with textures in engine or outside of it as I just didn't like the curtain in this room. After quite a bit of deliberation and trying new things, I decided a drawing tablet was in order and started looking around to see what was available. I really wanted to change the curtain to have a different feel, and although it is see through like I wanted, it still isn't quite right.

I'm personally working on textures from now on, all because of a curtain.

As for rim lighting, I now understand that truly great lighting in a scene needs multiple rim lights, not just a couple. And by multiple, I mean a lot, as this is VR and you're accounting for lots of variables that non-VR 3D videos don't have to think about. I think a lot of artist use a small FOV on POV shots to highlight the action, but in VR that isn't possible. We're talking 45 degrees up to 180 degree. Which is why I've had such a rough time getting it just right. I've also learned that bright rim lights that look hot to the touch are a personal taste (not a must), what a kicker truly is, that you should always have a rim light of some kind , and that lighting in a scene needs to be redone for camera changes 95% of the time. So, my plate is full, but I like a full plate. Idle handle and all that.
