Cracking up at the idea of a use vs. mention distinction for taking the Lord's name in vain

I know I made a comment about the pronunciation of Kamala (more in response to someone else in the context of thinking it was a deliberate joke) but I'm very familiar with having trouble with names. My dad cannot say just about any name correctly and, among other things, called our neighbors "the Ahmadinejads" the whole time I was growing up.
On another note, I always enjoy hearing Liz/Matt back-and-forth discussions about religion.

Matt you have very strange views on feasting for a former Big Unit. Also your refusal to be outrun either by a turkey or a banana cracked me tf up.
Also Liz and other US Americans I would like to report that I am in NYC and have at last tried my first pumpkin pie at the ripe old age of 32 and fuck it slaps. I also completely understand the pumpkin spice thing and dgaf if reputed basic.

It’s something Matt said on an episode a while ago on the subject of attraction. Liz has more patience than me because I wouldve thrown that back in his face way sooner lol

Use/mention for the lords name in vain really got me… just imagining Matt in 50 AD saying “Simon was the one who said it, I’m merely quoting him” and then getting crucified

Jesus literally had a brother and furthermore the brother's name was Joses. This is in the Bible. At one point somebody asks if Jesus is related to Joses suggesting that Joses was more well known at the time and possibly more attractive.

As a fellow Thanksgiving leftover enjoyer, I take no pleasure in reporting this but—cooked poultry should be consumed within 1-2 days per foodsafety.gov, and basically all cooked meat should be consumed within 3-4 days after cooking.

That’s right, Matt. Speak where the Bible speaks. Be silent where the Bible is silent.

I’ll say you’re welcome in advance TC since reading even one of these books will surely be among the best literary experiences of your life.
Patrick Leigh Fermor- a time of gifts, the violins of saint jacques (You’ll find in these two works arguably the greatest prose of the 20th century)
Georges Rodenbach, Bruges-la-morte (For all the jokes about child abuse and zoophilia the Belgians are subjected to “The chocolates are just to get to the kids and for the dog to lie still”, this novel proves the beautiful is not the singular property of a particular people but a gift freely given to all, even the Flemish.)
Lady Sarashina, As I crossed a bridge of dreams (Get ONLY the Ivan Morris translation)
Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky, Memories of the future (The best writer of the “Odessa School”)
Sadegh Hedayat, The Blind Owl (It rivals Dostoyevsky’s Notes, this is enough reason to read it)
