Network Progress Part 2

I finished another entity (you'll have to find it around), and also did a TON of work on the networking backend. To recap, I wanted to implement the type of networking used like in Dark Souls where players leave blood stains from previous playthroughs. Of course this is not going to be used only for blood stains. It will be used for leaving behind items or previous interactions.


I have plans to allow players to use tape, or a marker, or some kind of rope for guiding players (or yourself ) through the mazes. This is a direct inspiration from the Kane Pixel Youtube video. Will be implemented after this months global playtest.

So far the tech for this network persistence is complete. And it is fully functional too! Technically this makes the game an MMO and despite the backrooms being infinite in size, it is possible to run into previously explored regions.

The current player model is a dummy model from the asset store, eventually I will be replacing it with a more appropriate custom model. Speaking of assets, we have the old Viva team working on the game:

Calpico for sound effects.

Algernon for music.

Stillkill for launcher app. (will come later)

We already have sound effects for both entities and are just doing polishes till the global test. I will be having a poll to help decide the timezone for us to jump in. Probably right before the month ends.
