Alternative sword sounds. Opinions?
Added 2023-01-15 20:15:03 +0000 UTCShowcasing sword sound effects that I've made some time ago and the new ones I've made less than a month ago.
Tried to make second ones sound a bit closer to what they were in PB2, though, still a bit far from that and maybe I should try more. Won't be able to use PB2 sound effects for swords since they are based on edited sound effects from another non-mine game.
I'm considering either keeping only one of these presets or making both presets available as alternative options in Skin Editor.

And yes, terrain has animated grass disabled and lag on first impact happens due to disabled preloading (for faster startup) - might do something about it later, should not be hard.

Or, more specifically, have a different type of sound for different types of swords.

2023-10-31 03:47:15 +0000 UTCSo far it is just different pitch. I could make more sound variations later too.

2023-02-19 17:35:05 +0000 UTCI think that every sword should have it's distinct sound when lunging and echoes of it while moving, both sound great in my opinion.

2023-02-04 11:34:52 +0000 UTCI like both. There should probably be different sounds for certain swords.

2023-01-30 03:55:18 +0000 UTCBoth are pretty good, in my opinion. The second one is way cooler, though, and really fitting for some androids and stuff, I think. I think it's pretty awesome!

2023-01-25 09:50:16 +0000 UTCHmm. I might use same impact sound (from 2nd preset) for both sword sound presets. In some way. I think one of main focuses here should be for it to sound not like anything else. I could experiment more with sound effects later I guess.

2023-01-23 19:30:00 +0000 UTCDefinitely could work. More i listened to it the more i lean on the second one. Seems like alot of people agree with that to on here. Maybe make that the default setting and have the other one as an alternative.

2023-01-22 23:51:32 +0000 UTCI prefer the second one. Considering that we use high-tech chopper to fight each other in the game, it will be a little strange to hear the sound effect similar to metal impact. Have you considered something similar to the lightsaber sound effects in Star Wars?

2023-01-19 19:11:17 +0000 UTCHonestly, no matter what you implement, it's unique to me. From all the features that you've been showcasing so far, I like all of them!

2023-01-19 13:19:59 +0000 UTCSo far I do see preferences are mixed. I can just include both as part of skin design in Skin Editor.

2023-01-19 00:02:51 +0000 UTCThe first one wins by a landslide. Not sure if its possible but maybe setup a poll for people to vote.

2023-01-17 23:12:01 +0000 UTCPersonally a big fan of the second!! The first feels too sharp imo even though I love pb2
2023-01-17 16:07:02 +0000 UTCI like the first sword sound

2023-01-15 23:32:08 +0000 UTCThey sound fantastic! I think the only sound that may need work is the first set of swords when they hit the ground, the sound is somewhat jarring.

2023-01-15 21:29:29 +0000 UTCSounds a lot more powerful but less "sharp", I like it. Personally a bigger fan of the first, prob cause of nostalgia but they're both really good.
dingodang .
2023-01-15 21:14:50 +0000 UTCThe second one sounds better in my opinion. Its realistic like whistling air because you wouldn't be clashing your own swords if u were trying to fight someone. It sounds very believable to what those swords (im assuming plasma) would probably sound like splitting air.
2023-01-15 21:07:17 +0000 UTCI think they sound a lot better already. I like both versions for the different sword types. For the first one, the last bit of sound from the effect is a very sharp sound, making it sound not so smooth, end abruptly. Keep it up!
