I finished working on the main part of the renders. What do I mean, the main part?
The first chapter will divide the story into two paths. Myself, I call them the path of Kate and the path of Eva. This separation will happen in the first 20 minutes, and the plot will come back together by the end of the chapter. Of course, the consequences of the decision will be throughout the game in the form of character relationships, comments, etc. But in the first chapter, it will be a significant division, which will change the order of visiting some of the locations and which characters will be there for you.
So Kate's path is completely done. There are still a lot of pictures and animations in the rendering queue, but it won't take my time anymore; I’m rendering primarily at night.
But Eva's path still needs to be finished. But I'll try to make the most of the existing renders, and when I have to do new ones, anyway, all the locations are ready. So I don't think it will take longer. Maybe five days for renders and three days for text.
Right now, I'm working on editing the text. It takes quite a long time because English is not my first language. At the end of the post, I will write my expectations for the time frame.
Also, I decided this time to hire a professional editor. I wrote to the best editors at reedsy.com yesterday. I'm waiting to hear back. If they agree it will be very cool. I'm sure it will improve the text immensely. But of course not cheap. I think for the first chapter it will cost $1,500. But I think it's worth it. If they refuse, I'll hire someone on Fiverr who writes texts for Visual Novels. It will be much cheaper, but not exactly what I want. But in any case, better than nothing.
Anyway, there's not much left, but I won’t make it this month. Last time I said I would try, but I can't promise February for sure. Unfortunately, it did not work out. But now I can say that the first chapter will be 100% ready in March.
Here's what's done:
Dialogues - 18500 words (185%*)
Images - 592 rendered (155%*) and a lot in the queue
Animations – 13 done (100%*) and a lot in the queue
*The percentages are taken from a comparison with the regular update for Going Rogue. Therefore, the first chapter of the new game will be larger.
What’s left in days (approximately):
Dialogues for Eva path – 3 days
Renders for Eva path – 5 days
Text edit – 7 days
Coding – 5 days
Music – 3 days
Sounds – 1 day
Walkthrough - 2 days
Gui – 2 days
Beta test – 2 days
