pilicoda tragulis
The Bristle-Tail Drake, a species of Tree Drake, belongs to the Pilicodae family or commonly known as the Spear-Tail Drakes. Similar to its Spear-Tail counterparts, the Bristle-Tail Drake possesses an exceptionally long tail, capable of growing to almost twice its body length. Its name derives from the sharp quills that densely cover its body, particularly the tail. These quills are coated with a lethal neurotoxin produced in its saliva, which the Drake regularly applies to its quills. In defense, the Bristle-Tail Drake can inflate and deflate a series of air sacs in its tail. This action builds air pressure, enabling the creature to launch its quills at predators in a widespread pattern.
