Brief expansion progress log here!

The expansion is functionally complete on my end. The event routines, general coding and mechanics, JP translation, etc. are done. The artwork though is unfortunately a bit behind. There is just a lot of moving pieces and complexities with the CGs for this expansion. There are still a couple of CGs cooking that need more time in the oven. With that said, I do like the odds of them being done this month, and with it, the expansion fully wrapping up this month.

There was an internal deadline of releasing the expansion during May, which unfortunately wasn't met, but seeing as how it didn't meet the soft deadline I set, I did go ahead and added two more very unique and fairly lengthy events. These two events are a completely different kind of situation, and are technically a new event type as well. Part of the fun in them is how mind boggling and confusing they are at first, so I won't spoil the kind of event that they are. One is available in level 3 and the other one at 4. Good content for the mid-game. Needless to say these events mostly use existing assets CGs and sprites, and as such, they did not interfere much or weigh down the artwork tasks.

Fun fact : When taking the word count from the expansion and comparing it to the word count of the base game, the content in the expansion is roughly a 20% increase in content to the base game.

Another fun fact : The new CG seen above is now the most complex CG in the whole game, and personally my new favorite CG.

As for Purple Dream, this month it was also set a bit to the side in order for me to speed through the expansion, but there was of course work done in it, as well as plenty of experimentation. Perhaps among those things, something like... fully animated CGs and sprites?
