Basically, in 2010 a woman went missing and police dug up an area of the beach looking for her body and ended up stumbling upon multiple women's bodies buried at the same location. The murderer was never caught and was given a bunch of catchy nicknames, but the most popular of these was "The Long Island serial killer" (also referred to as LISK, the Gilgo Beach Killer, the Manorville Butcher, and the Craigslist Ripper). This murderer rose to the same level of infamy as The Golden State Killer. TODAY it was announced that AN ARREST WAS MADE!! From Wikipedia: "Rex Heuermann, 59, of Massapequa Park, was arrested near his office in Midtown Manhattan on July 13, 2023". My best friend was a sex worker for a number of years so stories like this really hit home for me. It's like people don't see human beings when they look at them.
