Hello, Haunties! What a horrible day to be an indie podcast. Yes, you read the title correctly: [REDACTED] the [REDACTED] company that is worth millions of dollars, found an image we reposted to a free blog in 2020 that I guess they own (we obviously didn't know that at the time) and is demanding we pay them over a thousand dollars for reposting it (final number is TBD and, if not resolved quickly, could easily increase to tens of thousands).

At the time of the repost of the image, we did not make any money nor did we make money from the image at all at any time (we were an audio only podcast, we did not sell the image, we did not monetize the image). We found the image on a different blog that had also reposted it, and there was no mention of it being copyrighted or owned by any person or entity at the source where we discovered it.

Currently Nat's dad (an attorney) is helping us respond to the demands since a law firm in Las Vegas is pursuing collecting, but he is not a copyright attorney and we may need to find representation if we cannot get the amount negotiated down to something reasonable.
