I can see why you think Sasori and Gaara are alike, but they're really not. Gaara was a product of hatred from his community, who never experienced any warm feelings from anyone (until Naruto came along). Sasori was a product of lies. They were both raised in solitude, but a different kind of solitude. Gaara was alone, because everyone was afraid of him, and that's why he became the monster everyone thought he was. Sasori, on the other hand, lived as a relatively normal child, with the exception of his parents never being there for him. Lady Chiyo tried to fill up the gap left by his absent parents (noone, except Yashamaru, for the record, tried to fill up the gap left by Gaara's dad). I believe, that if Chiyo only wasn't afraid of baring her emotions in front of Sasori, explaining to him (softly, of course) what happened, and that death is an essential part of life, he wouldn't become like this.
