Yeah, same here man, it really communicates a sense of isolation here, that rings far too close to home, I love Will's music cause it allows me to fell these feelings vicariously through song, its really great. This is a big and fancy way of saying me tooo ;-;

One thing that I really appreciate about this song, which makes it one of my favourites from the new record is the fact that it’s almost like an inner monologue, it never really sticks to one point for too long, so much so that I can’t really pin down what it is about strictly speaking, it really does attest to the idea that if you could explain a song in a sentence there wasn’t really a point in writing a song about that topic or point at all. In this song there are references to growing old, staying young via Peter Pan references in the studio version, also in that version it is implied that home can refer to heaven, so that, church, the floral ghosts at the beginning make me think about passing on. Or perhaps the ghosts represent demons or things that haunt you, perhaps a relationship or a fear of committing, which is another element present, with the church potentially referring to being married like in Becoming the Lastnames, and how life can’t always be that ideal. I love this song because it’s not afraid to wander a bit, jumping through thoughts and feelings, which puts me in mind of somebody laying down in bed at night staring at the ceiling and having all kinds of terrible thoughts and metaphorical ghosts come to haunt them, until it all boils over to a point where they must cry out for help, until they settle down, remain calm, and return to the safety of home. That got a bit fanfictioney at the end there, if anyone else has any thoughts about it, I’d love to discuss, there are a few tracks like this on the new album that are hard to pin down, for me at least, and it’d be great to hear some other interpretations, I love listening to a song and picking out new ideas that correlate to something I hadn’t even considered, it really is great work and I felt the need to type out a massive message about it at 2am so it must be doing something right, or maybe Will just really likes Peter Pan, ghosts, and church, I really can’t say.
