I took this show for granted. I doubt he will ever go back to Florida

Omg yes the strained vocals add so much in a song, especially in ones like Cicada Days and Becoming the Lastnames. Fantastic observation

I really, really appreciate the existence of this song, so so much. I love this version, especially at the end because of how animalistic and pained the vocals sound, I think whenever that’s in a version of this song it gives the whole thing an incredibly sad edge, because it’s one thing with the lyrics themselves hinting at self harm and suicidal ideation, but it’s another to have such strained and raw delivery, that illustrates the intense desire to succeed and better one’s self. I find it incredibly relatable, not only in its subject matter, but in its ability to capture that feeling of wanting so hard to improve whilst being unsure if you even can. I adore this song, and it’ll always make me think about of what I’m doing right now is actually improving or if I’m being stubborn or stupid about something that is very easily solved, it has the ability to make me pick myself up, pull my socks up and keep moving. I love it so much.
