This clip is a portion of the live "Slouching Towards Branson" show that doesn't appear in the film, but serves as something of a prologue to it. It features a live performance of "The Main Character" and has jokes and is very silly. I can't say it reflects the tone of the rest of the film, but I also can't say that isn't kind of the point.
The clips in it were shot at the House of Blues in Anaheim, the Rialto Theater in Tucson, and the Aladdin Theatre in Portland.
