Airwindows Wrappers

You may or may not be familiar with Airwindows, the amazing and totally free plugin project of the DSP-super-wizard Chris Johnson 🧙 Chris builds and releases a ton of excellent sounding plugins totally for free (his Patreon-supported model is very much an inspo for me starting my own Patreon). His plugins sound seriously good. They can be really subtle, but always bring an extra bit of vibe to whatever you load them on.
There are a few problems with the Airwindows plugins though. For one, the plugins don't feature any kind of UI. While I appreciate the minimal approach, this can make them feel a little uninspiring to use. The other problem is that there are A LOT of plugins. While many of them are excellent, quite a few of them are just weird little DSP experiments that Chris does that probably shouldn't really ever be used in a music production context and are more like weird science experiments.
This new release solves both of those problems 🌟
I've created a set of custom Max For Live interfaces for a hand-picked selection of the best and most useful Airwindows plugins. They now feel like really handy, minimal tools to use to add a bit of colour and vibe to your tracks. Plus, having them as Max wrappers makes them integrate just that little bit better with Live and Push.
In total (so far) there are 10 devices:
- BiquadPlus: a super clean, multimode filter
- Capacitor: a hi/lowpass filter with non-linearity for some colourful filtering
- BussColors4: mix-bus style saturation and analog-style glue
- Channel9: analog mixer channel colouration
- IronOxide5: an interesting, but flavourful take on tape emulation
- Tape: a super simply 'just drop it on a track to give it some extra vibe' tape emulation
- Tube2: lovely sounding analog tube emulation
- Pressure5: a super easy to use, and great sounding compressor
- DeRez2: a really nice sounding bitcrusher (better than Live's Redux, IMO)
- kPlate: 4 excellent sounding plate reverb models
