Berserk(1997) Bokurano (doubt anyone here is going to vote for this though considering it's not a title known to mainstream audiences, also the show isn't totally r-18+ but episode 7 has some pretty questionable content involving a middleschool girl) When They Cry (possibly the best horror anime around and despite having child torture, murder and abuse it still has a very well done story and manages to be much more than torture porn unlike most shows people think of when it comes to R-18+ anime) Made in Abyss (literally one of the best anime in the last 10 years) Devilman Crybaby (graphic sex, hyperviolence, rampant drug use and honestly excessive amounts of despair inducing story beats and morals make one of the best shows on Netflix, fair warning it is truly depressing in the back half and with it's ending. Still feels worth the viewing despite causing a weeklong depression for me) Monogatari Series (mostly not R-18+ but contains heavy sexual inuendo towards nearly all of its mostly female cast including a certain infamous toothbrush scene involving the MC and his sister. Despite how it sounds it's the crowning jewel series from top Japan author Nisioisin and massively respected studio Shaft. Quite possibly the most critically acclaimed long running series in anime and equally loved by a massive fanbase it's basically required viewing at this point for any anime fan that isn't just a shounen bro. Also despite only having a few fight scenes they are all brutal and amazingly well done plus it consistently contains both some of the best romance and whitty comedy in anime) Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion (good chance you've seen this and if you haven't, seriously how have you not watched the anime that saved the anime industry and despite being released in 97 is still one of the most talked about and beloved anime series world wide)
