Huegene Eater 

I've been tinkering around with the huegene element in SandPond.

Recap: The huegene element gains energy over time. When it has enough energy, it reproduces. Every offspring has a slight mutation, causing it to be a slightly different colour.

Now, I've also made a Huegene Eater element. It moves around, eating any Huegene it can find. When it gets enough energy from eating, it reproduces. Just like the first element, every child gets a slight mutation and therefore a slightly different colour.

There's one more thing! Eaters find it easier to eat Huegenes that are a similar colour to themselves. This means that they end up evolving to become a similar colour to the Huegenes around them. Natural selection strikes!

I think it looks quite cool in action. It was quite hard to tweak the numbers for 3D though. I found it quite hard to see what was going on. In the future, I would like to improve the 3D Huegene and Eater so that it's more fun to watch.

TimePond

I've been improving the way that portals work in the time travel engine. They can now reliably fling frogs out at a different angle. This means... I now have everything I need from the portals! No more coding portals! (They are still very buggy and only work in certain arrangements, but it's time to focus 100% on time travel now).

And because of this, we can now set up the frogs so that they hit themselves from the past, causing the grandfather paradox. It's quite fun to watch this happen in realtime!
