What's new this week?

Imposter!

A while ago, tode went missing! And now it looks like an IMPOSTER has landed on the lilypad!? Some sort of round bird!?! Shoo!

This marks the start of the build-up to the next video! And it looks like this bird might be hijacking the youtube channel in tode's absence... Hopefully they don't cause too much trouble.

Seriously though... it's been a nice experiment to have some sort of 'story' going on outside the youtube videos. And people seem to have enjoyed it! At the very least, I hope it provides a bit of light-hearted fun!

Big Nothing

My new video, 🤖 Nothing, released this time last week, and so far... the response has been amazing! Thank you for all your kind words and support!

In fact, the response has been so big that it's got a bit daunting. I quite like having a smaller youtube channel and following. For me, small is special - I would like the todepond to feel like a hidden+secret section of the internet!

I don't want to seem ungrateful. I cherish every single kind view and comment I get (and I reply to them all)! But the scale+size of the internet scares me sometimes...

I see so many people dream of huge followings. I am immensely happy and thankful for the little one that I have! :)

Wobbly Paint

The next video is going to be called ✨ NEW Cellular Automata (as voted for by patrons). And I've started making it!

This week, I made a little tool for some of the video's transitions. It's a wonky drawing tool, that lets you draw lines with a wobbly character. A frog (or other familiar face) tries their best to follow your cursor around - but they struggle to keep up and end up jittering around the place. As the video progresses, I'm going to make it get more-and-more wobbly!

Wobbly Screens

The video AFTER ✨ NEW Cellular Automata is going to be called 📺 Screens in Screens in Screens. It'll be about a new engine that lets you make infinity mirrors and the droste effect.

You'll be able to put an image inside itself, which makes it appear inside itself again, and so on. And I want the images to be able to be resized and reshaped. So this week... I have been trying (and failing) to re-map images into other shapes and sizes. 

I've started making the video too! This is the first time that I've been working on two videos at the same time... It does help me to have multiple projects on the go - because when I need a break from one, I can hop to the other. When I return to the first one, I usually have a new burst of inspiration/energy for it!

Chance

I've also been working on some more CellPond improvements!

For example, you can now set the chance of a rule happening. This means you can... let's say... make Red turn Blue 20% of the time!

I've also made it so that you can make the world 'wrap around'. In other words... if you move off the right of the screen, you appear on the left. If you move off the top of the screen, you appear at the bottom! This is currently only available as a keyboard shortcut - but I'm starting work on making a user-interface for it too! I'm looking forward to making more improvements :)
