What's new this week?

Spellular Automata

It's been a week since the new video released (⚡ Spellular Automata)! What did you think? I'm really pleased that people seem to be enjoying it so far!

Quite a lot of new patrons have joined since then, which is nice. And we're getting much closer to the stretch-goal of 99 patrons!

If you didn't know, I promised that: If we get to 99 patrons, I'll make a video called 🏆 Top 99 ways to make Sand (where we make sand in 99 different ways). It's a bit of a step up from 🏅 Top 9 ways to make Sand but I think it'll be possible! (and a fun way of celebrating)

Definition

The next video will be called 📕 Define Define, and I started making it this week. Its storyboard is now finalised, and I've mixed together most of its background music too.

The video will have quite a jokey tone. But the music that I had picked for it ... didn't really match this. It was too intense. So I've changed over to a track that I've been trying (and failing) to use for quite a long time (it's one of my favourites from the Anjuna labels). It feels like it has lots of different 'phases' - which should match the video better.

Arrows

So far, 🎵 Arrows in Arrows in Arrows is leading the way! Though all of the other choices do have some solid camps of supporters too! Your feedback is really helpful to me - thank you!

There is still time for a video to catch up with the leader, but just in case, I've started to plan out ArrowPond! Which is a cellular automata engine I've been dreaming up for about a year now. I've been trying to cram in as much complexity as I can into a minimal user-interface (and I've got quite a few features planned).

One challenge that I'm trying to figure out is: The user will need to click/touch little arrows that are moving around the screen. But... if they're moving... it might be quite hard to 'accurately' click on them. It could be annoyingly fiddly! I've been trying out a few solutions, and I'll keep working on it! I'm really excited to share more with you :)

Yes pausing would help! The only thing is: That would also pause the music that the engine is producing, which would be a shame. I've been wondering if there's a way of pausing a snapshot of the visuals (that you can click on) while letting the engine carry on running underneath 🤔

having some way to pause the program might help with clicking on arrows. Not sure how to help if they are overlapping though.
