🤖 TODEPOND TIMES 🤖
What's new this week?

Cellular Automata
In preparation for the next video, 📕 Define Define, I've been continuing work on the new SandLab engine.
It's a cellular automata, designed to simulate sand (and other elements).
And I'm finally implementing the sand! But it's different to usual.
Usually, in these sorts of simulations, sand atoms fall down by swapping places with an empty space below them. But this time, sand moves partially into the empty space.
In some ways, it behaves more like a traditional physics engine. Which leaves us with the question: Is it really a cellular automata at all? (maybe that's the point)

30 Seconds
With all this work that I'm putting into SandLab, you might think that it's the main topic of the video....
But it's not.
SandLab takes up a very small section of the video. Approximately 30 seconds, out of a total 9 minutes.
Why spend so much time on such a short segment? (and such a short video)
I imagine the same sort of satisfaction comes from setting up a dominoes world record, or a rube goldberg machine.
A ridiculously long setup for a ridiculously short (but satisfying) payoff. That's how I see my videos! (or at least, how I experience them)
I think I enjoyed this most with the 🚩 Tourism 2 video. Some of those tools only got a few seconds of air time.
So now that I'm editing together 📕 Define Define, I often find myself facing the question: "Should I go the extra mile even though it'll take a long time?"
And the answer is always 'yes'.
Maybe that's why it's taking so bloody long. I'll get back to work now...
Thank you so much for your continued support! I really appreciate everything that you contibute, and I'm glad that you're here for the journey :) Have a lovely week! See you soon! 🤖⏰

Haha I can always expect quality content from TodePond! Every minute of each video has hours and hours of effort!
