Bootie-O 54 -- exclusive disco mashup mixtape

On January 28, 2012, we threw one of our favorite theme parties ever -- Bootie-O 54. After reading The Last Party: Studio 54, Disco, and the Culture of the Night by Anthony Haden-Guest, we wanted to pay tribute to the original Studio 54 with a party dedicated to the infamous New York City nightclub. We spun mashups of '70s disco-era classics, and featured performances by Hubba Hubba Revue of Studio 54 luminaries, such as the "Disco Granny." We decorated with a cardboard version of the famous "moon with coke spoon," and we did our best Steve Rubell imitation, going outside to pick out fabulous people in line to enter the club for free! We even had our photographer, ShutterSlut, shoot everything in black-and-white for that authentic '70s feel!

Sadly, we were in love with this theme more than our crowd was, who, despite showing up as they did every Saturday night, didn't really participate -- or even quite GET -- what we were referencing. Too young to understand, I suppose. So we never did this theme again at DNA Lounge.

But we made a special Bootie-O 54 mixtape just for the occasion, pressing up 100 CDs, which were only given away at this party, so it was extremely limited-edition. In fact, I had completely forgotten about it until I found one recently while cleaning out the Bootie Mashup vaults. I recreated the track listing, remastered it, and now it's getting an exclusive release here -- only for our Patreon!
