Welcome to the latest monthly update to keep you updated on the latest and greatest developments across all of TheDataDB sites.

This month we want to pay particular attention to the data and artwork additions. Let’s get to it.

The American sports season is nearly upon us again, so we’ve been working hard importing data ahead of then. This included the entire NHL (National Hockey League) calendar for 2019-2020 with over 1,200 new events! That’s over 80 games played by each team which is really hard to imagine. 

We also looked at the MLB (Major League Baseball) season, and found an issue with our scores updater which is now fixed.

Our users have been hard at work adding highlights to sports and its great to see the England’s Premiership soccer TV stations finally uploading highlights to YouTube. This means all our users can benefit from watching the highlights either on our website or through the API for free! 

The American NFL (National Football League) have also been really good at putting up highlights for their events and we have all the games linked back to the recap on YouTube. 

Lastly on the highlights front, if you’re a motorsport fan you can now watch both the Formula 1 and Formula E 2019 season full video highlights on the site!

We added some new leagues as well just for good measure. Check out the Rugby World Cup with full video match highlights, as well as the Cricket World Cup. We’re also supporting the NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as the World Touring Car Cup. 

Other additions to the site include new and updated TV station logos and new player honours with icons.

Some of our users have also been uploading and completing the various motorsport leagues with metadata and artwork. Virtually all of the motorsport teams now have driver details, events, artwork and descriptions. You can even find transparent pictures of the driving machines on the left side of each team. A big thanks to our community of users for your contributions!

We’ve continued to keep the latest charts up-to-date by adding all details of popular new albums completed with the addition of 3D artwork. This keeps a nice stream of new releases looking great on our front page.

We had a lot of communication from developers with requests to call the entire list of cocktails. While there were performance considerations to be thought about, since it was such a popular request, we have implemented this for the $2 a month Patreon level users. Now any supporter on this level can make a single call to filter all alcoholic cocktails.

We also upgraded the API limits to return all 500+ of our ingredients without breaking the API backwards compatibility. If your app or program worked before with the more limited list it will work with the newer limits available on the $2 tier. Just upgrade your pledge and we will send you a new API key with the new limits. If you prefer to stick on the current tier then there is no change and you don’t need to do anything.

As some of our regular readers know, we are looking at employing a professional photographer to update our cocktail images. We’re in discussions with a few photographers at the moment regarding our brief and also invested in a camera setup ourselves to take some test shots. Any excuse to try out some of the cocktails, right? 😊

There have continued to be some unusual recipe requests over the last month! Please do keep them coming. Have you tried any of the recipes for yourselves? If so, let me know via the website. While we are looking at introducing some new features including ratings in the future, it’s still great to get some feedback in the meantime to make sure the recipes are as delicious as they sound!
