Most of my models are not models. I prefer to work with unspoiled women, because many of the so-called professional models get used to poses and looks and soon are not able anymore to act naturally and individually in a session.
When I said "so-called", I mean most of those girls that are on instagram and facebook that call themselves professional model because men pay to meet them and take some pictures and that all look kind of the same, use the same poses, the same angles, the same smiles: just what gives the most likes - and not the really professional models that even after years can adopt to the ideas of a photographer. That's the big difference, but those models are fare away from the possibilities of my budget :-)
Meanwhile I even developed kind of an allergy against those social-web-models. I can't see those faces any-more, I can't see those poses. I can't see that fake happiness. During all my long life, almost 60 years, I have never met somebody who was happy all the time, who had a smile in its face without a break (except one, in a mental hospital). I never knew somebody who's life just flowed perfectly upward with no downs, no sad moments, no doubts or fears from time to time. I never met a woman that did not have any wrinkles, any cellulite, some fat at the wrong place, a perfect face, perfect hair, a perfect body with a perfect skin.
(Maybe one can find them here in Barcelona in that new whorehouse they opened a few month ago, where the girls are life-sized silicone dolls, who knows.)
The so-called social media has a huge effect on the behaviour of people, in my case I note is especially on girls or even women. They consider a photo as "good" when all filters are applied, when there is no more skin, when their eyes look bigger than a cows eyes, when they see their same expression that they use for their selfies.
I often sit in a café and watch the people go by. And I see that even in real life they behave as if they were on instagram. They can switch on and off their smiles, if I wouldn't dislike it so much, I would admire it. They hold their phone up to take a selfie in front of one of the many tourist places, switch on the smile, take the pose, tap the phone's screen, switch off the smile - all in a second. They meet a friend: switch-on. The friend walks on, switch off. F**k, it's all so f***ing fake. If there would be just a bit of a real emotion (for example when meeting the friend) the smile wouldn't just switch off. If would stay a bit longer, would slowly loose it's intensity, before it finally would disappear to make room for the allday face...
Well, enough of ranting. What I wanted to say is, that this phenomena makes it really hard for me to find models who can still act as just a human being. They exist. I just sometimes don't know where and then I wished my taste was a bit different and I could just happily photograph all those instagram chicks and be rich and famous :-) But I can't.
Belle, the young woman you see on these photos, is one of those rare exceptions. She's from Argentina and she was in Barcelona only for a short while, that's why her pubic hair is so short - there wasn't more time to wait for letting it grow more.
As with all women who have not adapted to the happiness/sexiness-switch-on/off it is a great proof of courage when they allow me to take photos of them while they are naked. It takes a while until they get used to the fact that I am here with the camera pointing on her, until she can relax and feel comfortable and free.
My sofa is an ideal place to begin and to take kind of classic nudes. As you can see it did not take long until Belle lost her natural shyness and freely let me see all of her. Those are the first photos I took of her. I hope you enjoy her beauty just as much as I did!
