Gimp (the linux photoshop)

Here's the original image of the "photoshopped" version I posted just before. (I put "photoshopped" in quotes, because I don't use photoshop, I use the Gimp, the free and open source image manipulation software that is also available for Win and Mac - I work on Linux).

There are two things I changed:

First of all I removed the cable of my loudspeaker. I haven't had the time to fix it properly, but also couldn't remove it because it is fixed at both ends... So for this sample I removed it using software. In the parts where the cable just lays on the floor it is quite easy: I just copied part of the flor (using the "healing stamp tool") and the cable disappeared. It was much more complicated where it comes to the frame of the window. Here I had to copy small pieces and put them over the cable. Also, where it touches the legs it's a bit complicated, because you don't want a hard edge between the leg and the background, as it would appear if I did a selection. So in fact I took another little piece of the leg and copied it to where the cable was.

The second change occurs below the feet. I often tend to hold the camera a bit inclined, and so I corrected this by rotating the image slightly. Because the feet are so very close to the end of the photo, after turning and cropping the photo I would have cutted off her toes. So I had to add some more floor.

This was quite complicated because I couldn't just copy and paste - it wouldn't fit because of the perspective distortion. Also it wouldn't fit because of the light that almost invisibly changes from the window side to the indoor side - but if you put them together the difference is obvious.

So I had to cut little pieces of the floor and put them together below of the feet, adjusting size and brightness.

My power-patrons can see the manipulated version in original size and look if they would regognize the retouching also if they wouldn't know about it...

The series I uploaded for my special patrons is original - as always.
