I had the luck to live almost ten years in the very center of the old town of Barcelona at times when life was sparkling in every moment - except Sunday morning when everybody still was sleeping, with the exception of some pleased tourists that came across while I photographed this marvelous young woman, and one a bit annoying guy (he appears in one photo in the series) who didn't understand that I didn't want him in the photos.
I told him that there's nothing wrong when he wants to watch the shooting, but that he please stay in my back. No, he walked in front of me again and again, pretending that he was there accidentally - cumbersome. We had to stop the shooting, go home (I lived just around the corner of these beautiful streets) for a coffee and then come back a little later when he finally disappeared.
Taking nude images in the street of Barcelona was an ever changing topic. Since many years there was a convinced nudist, an elderly man who crossed the streets on his bicycle always completely naked. Everybody knew him from seeing. Nobody cared. He just didn't want to dress, so what! (He never approached somebody, never behaved indecent in any way, acted completely normal, except of not being dressed).
But police had different ideas. They molested him often, sometimes they arrested him for some hours. Until a group went to court and finally achieved that it is officially allowed to go naked because their is no law that says anything about if and how one has to be dressed.
That didn't last long. Soon Barcelona made a new law and now you can even get fined when you (even as a slim man with no bosom) walk topless through the city in a hot summer day, also not in a swimsuit or bikini (that is only allowed directly on and close to the beach). At the moment I took those images nudity in public wasn't allowed anymore.
But police in Barcelona had other things to do on Sunday mornings than to look after naked beauties and so Marisol and I dared to go to the street and take those photos despite of the prohibition. The results, as my patrons of Power-level and up can see in the almost 100 images of that series, are very beautiful - because of the ambience of those wonderful streets and, of course, because of the lovely and very expressive model.
Sadly I could never again do such a session. Terror fear times came up with loads of heavily armed and grimly looking policemen at every corner at any time, impossible to find a moment where they wouldn't catch you.
I had a little hope that I could do something like that in Málaga, which also has a very nice and lovely old town. But it is camera monitored to an extent that not even George Orwell would have dreamed of and there is so much police around all the time that sometimes I think that there is maybe more police than people. You must know: Spain has the biggest police/people ratio of all Europe. Really a lot. And now, as they must make sure to catch the virus in case one comes around the corner, there is even more police...
It's a pity because a beautiful naked woman in the beautiful surrounding of an beautiful old town is really... beautiful. Even if you take the photos in a relatively quiet moment there is always somebody walking by, or at least there could be somebody... and that makes it even more tempting.
So I am happy that at least once I could take such images and, although they have been published before in my former paysite "guapamania" I like to show them here again to those who haven't seen them before.
