Ariel had a descendant of her own, apparently...

i know you're not a fan but these kinda movies give me a better appreciation for sushi

"We shall not rest until that bad woman is vanquished!" "Bad woman?" I know it's a G-rated, DTV sequel, but was that the best they could do?

SummerMoonSoldier

That prince (whose name I could never remember) sure looks a lot like Aladdin

BB Shockwave

Funnily, there is a transformer too who is called Undertow, though he is a boat, not a shark.

It's a shame that Melody didn't appear in the Descendants franchise. It was the perfect opportunity for her to appear again as a teenager and maybe even befriend the VKs.

Grace Starkes

Oh my god Clancy why. Why would you do this to yourself?

Sheridan Mann

I think you're on to something with the 'Timon and Pumbaa' comment since 'The Lion King' was still the most popular Disney movie to date and they had moved into their post-rennaissance era. I would watch this movie just for the Titanic Tip and Daring Dash storyline and felt that they were really well drawn and somewhat well fleshed out for a kid's movie (a Disney sequel, at that). I really want to see their story in a film by itself or something like it!

Elizabeth Athineu

Oh right I forgot. But you understand what I mean. I hope Bobsheaux can review that movie sometime.

"Return to Neverland" was released to theatres.

Spuart

I actually liked this movie.

Brendyn Robertson

Yeah, honestly as far as Disney Sequel Offspring go, Melody is one of my favorites, right up there with Jane Darling.

SummerMoonSoldier

"It doesn't matter if you have fins or feet, we love you just the way you are." Except, that wasn't the theme of the movie or her arc, was it? I mean, sure, she felt awkward in the first act, but it was more about her feeling she didn't FULLY belong where she was, because a big piece of her heritage was being kept from her. Like a mermaid equivalent to Disney Hercules feeling out of place in the land of mortals. She didn't feel like she had to change to get her family's approval, she felt something was missing and wanted to find what it was. I mean, "we love you the way you are" is always a nice sentiment, even if it CAN be botched in the delivery of other animated films (and has been), but it's the wrong sentiment for this plot.

SummerMoonSoldier

When it comes to the worst of the Disney direct to video sequels, Belle's Magical World by far is the worst

"This can't be her first time sneaking out if she's swimming this proficiently." And she can hold her breath like a professional pearl diver, too, apparently. She goes pretty far out and pretty deep, and never shows any signs of distress (until the climax, of course). That's pretty impressive. And wait, hang on. Undertow says they can't "show their faces in polite society again" because of Morgana. Implying they used to go out and mingle and it was fine? Nobody was wary about Morgana being Ursula's sister? But then she's referred to as "Ursula's crazy sister." So??? And finally, wow, you can REALLY hear proto-Twilight Sparkle in Melody's voice.

SummerMoonSoldier

You know, there is a lot stupid with this movie. But Melody almost isn't one of them. Like her more than her mother I can tell you that much. I also like how Morgana's poopsie's are manta rays, but that's just because I fucking love manta rays. Be cooler if they where hammer head sharks though. Because see above reason

Curtis Rogahn

Oh boy! My favorite direct-to-DVD sequel! This one’s next to Return to Neverland!
