Sometimes, especially when I have a model who is also interested in achieving something special, I take several attempts to reach a photographic goal.
Patrons who have been following me for 6 month or more and have access to older series probably remember the "playing with light and shapes" series I uploaded here in December 2017.
But two days before the session you saw in that series, I tried the same thing, only that the session was canceled and could not be continued at that moment, because... let's put it this way: due to over-excitement of model and photographer ;-)
But before we turned to less photographic things, some interesting pictures were taken after all.
The concept was to shoot Yana in absolute darkness, the camera on a tripod and to light her with a small flash several times from different directions, while the camera shutter was open. With the flash in hand, I moved around Yana and triggered it from different positions. This created "impossible" lighting conditions, each individual flash cast its harsh shadows that were eventually dissipated or softened by the next flash, and when she moved between the individual flashes, almost cubist images were created.
So we were all in the dark so that really only what my flashes illuminated was exposed and so I didn't see Yana and had to describe to her the pose I wanted - or move her with my hands directly into the pose I wanted, put her hand where I wanted it to be and check to make sure she wasn't covering something I wanted in the picture - which just then led to the abortion of the session described above.
Here is a preview of the series I uploaded for my patrons from the power level and the pictures I took before it got too hot.
