Update: Volcano gen 2 | The Old Grown Volcano

Time to share some details about this giant.
We write 2025 April - im in the progress of updating everything to wm 4048+. During that process many erosion based terrains kinda fell off, and i was tasked with updating them.

Along side that i found plenty of new inspiration via google earth and got up to work. Umnak Island was the main culprit, inspiring me to work on the volcano once again. And add all the new techniques and knowledge, i made over the past years, as the gen 1 volcano is like 2-3 years old by now.

Its kinda finished, but i want to add more size variations and alternatives to the worlds. So a desolate erupted fantasy landscape will come someday again.

finalized in: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/fetoxion/

Inspirations:

Mt Fuji
Volcano: Lewotolo
Volcano: Bagana
Volcano: Dukono
Volcano: Arenal Volcano
Volcano: Umnak Island
Volcano: Mount Merapi

Goal:

A new, more realistic-ish, old grown, eroded volcano

Thoughts

I am very happy with the outcome, and with the recent snow additions, a full new terrain type has entered my worlds.
In the future looking forward to make smaller variants and a stylized fictional "apocalyptic" version, like the first generation became, but improved!

Heres whats making this volcano special

- Snowfall
- snow slopes
- Magma slopes
- lava pond
- ash slopes/flows
- magma caves below

Spent a lot of time on this one, with many references to central american, indonasian and well Mt Fuji

- Snowfall due to the height ( reference mt fuji)
- high erosion like seen in tropical area located volcanoes, where loose top soil/rock is easily eroded away
- grass grows in areas where its not to cold and not eroded away or washed away
- lava doesn't spill anywhere anymore, but is like icelandig volcanoes, spewing mostly into one random direction, and flowing down from there
- the volcano top edge where its spewing lava/magma is eroded away to enable lava flows
- " old lava flows" are indicated by the ash flows going down all the mountain
- lava only at the "entrance / outrance?" the flows are converted to magma edit: damn i flipped it as i thought it might resemble the "harden / cooled" lava ... should i change it?
"Scientists use the term magma for molten rock that is underground and lava for molten rock that breaks through the Earth's surface."

And Something cool im happy about is, the probable use for future type of volcanoes called calderas
