Modding Diary - Severe preeclampsia and early delivery

This week I worked on adding patients with severe preeclampsia to the game. The symptoms and treatments are a simplified representation of preeclampsia irl, real life situations are obviously a lot more complicated but I want to keep it simple in game to avoid having players end up not know what to do

when performing urinalysis you will sometimes come across a patient with "dangerously high levels of protein" in their urine

you can perform blood pressure test to further diagnose the patient

If their blood pressure is high or extremely high then it is a sign you will need to act immediately

You can administer Labetalol and Magnesium Sulfate to treat their high blood pressure and prevent seizure, or you can perform an early delivery to make sure the patient is safe.

 you will get a notification when the patient finishes the IV

if their Blood pressure is now normal it means your treatment is successful and you can discharge them. the IV has a 90% chance of lowering their blood pressure, and a 10% chance where it doesnt work and the patient could end up collapsing and maybe even die (still need to work on the death part).

if you fail to provide immediate care after meeting a patient with extreme high blood pressure they might also collapse. Im thinking they probably wont die immediately upon collapsing, and maybe it will only happen if no one attends to them within x amount of sim minutes 🤔 The death part will turned off by default in childbirth settings, if you want your patient to have the chance to die you will have to turn it on manually.

 you can treat the collapsed patient by either doing an early induction or IV

early induction works similar as when your sim is giving birth except you are on the other side this time

a baby will spawn in the incubator, which you will need to help take care of until the end of your shift.

 I couldn't get the c-section animation to play for the life of me 😫and my brain is no longer working for the day🧠, guess I will save the fun for next week.
