Hi guys!! Hope you are well! π
This week I worked on neonatal blood analysis.
First of all I fixed the issue where the animation wouldn't play when operating on a pregnant patient, it only took me two days π₯²
but ya i got the animation to work (finally)
when you help a patient give birth prematurely you will see their newborn in the incubator
and you can take a blood sample to perform blood analysis to asses their health 
your sim will grab the baby's ankle and disinfect it and take the blood.
also I was today years old when I found out blood are normally drawn from the heels of newborns instead of like their arms π«₯
the baby will start crying when the needle goes in
you will get a vial of blood sample in your sims inventory
and you can use the analyzer to analyze it
you will get a notification telling you whether the baby is health or if they have jaundice, Pneumothorax or Anemia, it will also tell you which type of treatment to perform if treatment is needed. Excuse the llama icon, gotta fix that next week π
when Anemia is sever you will need to give the baby a blood transfusion, which is something I will work on next week.

2025-02-15 19:50:59 +0000 UTCYep, as I recall their blood vessels are just to tiny in their little arms π! Same reason they get their first few vaccines in their thighs. Looks interesting though I sadly assume it has the same game limited issue of having to play the entire thing through in a single setting π? I will never understand why newborns aren't portable "objects", it would make SO much more sense!

2025-02-15 01:18:42 +0000 UTCAmazing work once again! π€ And another fun fact about neonatal blood samples - sometimes there arenβt any adequate veins in newborns so the best option is to put an IV in their scalp, bless them π₯Ίπ I havenβt worked in NICU since training but I think they also do samples from the umbilical cords in neonates as well?π«
