Modding Diary - Nothing is working this week

Hi guys! hope you all are well!
Unfortunately I dont really have much to report to you this week, I spent most of my week fixing what should've been a couple of simple bugs and its just ✨not working✨ 🫠
this is what I spent most of my week dealing with. I first saw this last week, and thought it would've been a simple fix and shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
If you are wondering what you are looking at, the two vials of blood samples on the counter were both taken from newborn sims, and I could not get the names of the babies to appear in the tooltip for the life of me 🫠This is a problem because how are you supposed to analyze blood samples or run an NICU if you cant even tell which sample came from which baby.
honestly if I knew it'd be this difficult id probably skip the blood analysis for babies all together, but I kept thinking it really shouldnt be not working like this and maybe i just missed something. before I knew ive already spent too much time on it.
putting sims names on samples is a non issue for older sims because they are actually sims, babies on the other hand are this sims-object hybrid, and it turns out expecting them to behave like sims really just ✨doesn't work✨ 🥲
I think I did kind of find a solution tonight tho, and of course it requires scripting again. my level 2 scripting skill is coming in real handy, without it i'd probably just have to give up.

This semester what I learned so far is ; it quicker to start over than find the problem because it probably took you no time to just set up, and sometimes you just don't want to give up, but love your work and look forward to this new addition to your mods.
