I live in a relatively small town in the middle of Indiana. 4 years ago myself and a group of local weirdos/queers decided to start our own pride festival. The first year had an amazing turn out. Our smalltown pride fills me with so much hope for future generations. Seeing queer kids with their supportive parents at Pride in my smalltown is something I never thought I'd witness. We're on our 5th year. It's still going strong. It's my passion project and it's helping me stay somewhat sane in these insane political times.

This is like pride doubling with a dead story. Pride weekend 2019 i woke up knowing i couldnt stay in the closet anymore and texted my dad. He had a “i still love you” kind of response which is fine (hes a preacher and it could have been much much worse. I knew news traveled fast in my family so i then had to text my mom, step mom and sisters. I survived coming out and went and had a gay old time at pride. When i got home, i found my neighbor dead in the hall, having just taken his dog outside the poor dog was attached to the body via the leash. I called 911 and they asked me to ROLL THE BODY OVER and i couldnt. He was a nice man, but apparently had a number of health problems. Anyway that was all in one day and maybe the most emotionally confusing pride so far.
