January Update 2022

OI OI Gamedev and or Gamer!

Welcome to this years first update. Hope you have had a good start to the year and things are all good for you. :)

Continuing on from where i left off towards the end of last year with the RPG Series characters, we have the 'Royal Guards'.

Quick look at the roadmap as it stands:

ADD ROADMAP

The road map has been a great help for me. I wasn't sure about doing such a thing at first as  i felt that it would put pressure on me to have certain things finished at a certain time. I don't cope well under pressure it seems and it is a stress, which in the end can effect the results because i end up rushing to finish and make many mistakes, which i end up having to correct and then has the dominoe effect on other things. But surprisingly, i'm glad to have it. It has driven me more, and allowed me to focus on things better without getting side tracked so much, and seeing the characters progress and get added to is nice to see. I'm sure it helps everyone looking in on my work to see what i'm up to and whats coming up in future releases.

With that in mind, and it's the start of a new year, i'm going to try and set myself a few other targets for this year. Things that i would like to accomplish by the end of 2022. As game assets go, the RPG Series roadmap is pretty definitive, and there is enough there that will take me till the end of the year, all things going smoothly. :) As for games: Monstropolis is somewhat a little tougher to tackle, development has been pretty stagnant and have come to the conclusion that its just a little bit to difficult for me at this stage to tackle as my code knowledge isn't quite there yet for what i want it to do overall. So think it's best to move on to something  little less difficult and some what smaller in scale. 'Skelly' is what i'm thinking of doing. Out of all the base games i have it's the one i go back to the most and i do often think about how i would like to progress the game. It was the game i made for the OGA Winter game jam back in 2020. The demo is still playable if you wana give it a try.

It hasn't changed at all since the jam version and i got some great feedback for it, so i'm going to work on those things and see if i can get it completed by the end of the year and finally have a game released, which i am desperate to do. To actually have a game out there would be a great achievement for me, and then i can at least say im a proper game developer, instead of sitting on all these projects that gather dust. :) 

So those things i would like to think are set in stone going forward this year. the RPG Series characters and the Skelly game. But i'm sure those wont be the only things to happen this year. I have many other drafts and projects kicking about which i'm sure will get a release in 2022, and some other ideas that i'm considering, and of coarse more game ratings.

Ive looked at creating a 'interactive' book/magazine type thing, which is interesting. Something i could possibly release every month within patreon/emails and on other platforms which would host a lot of what i do, but in a much more better looking way and some fun. At the moment i'm just playing around with it but it does have potential. I'm also looking to get some GIFs in amongst the assets images. This will really show what the assets look like when put together. I am likely to release another 'Soccer/Football' asset pack for SMS. This will be different to the NES versions. I'm hoping to add 20 or so characters based on the RPG Series characters, including females. 20+ league team shirts(home & away) and Internationals. It's a big project compared to the NES types but im excited to be working on it. Whilst i mentioned the NES, i'm also looking to add more sports packs, rugby, hockey, american football & more. So yeah, lots of other things in the pipeline, just not sure when these will be released as yet, il keep you posted on those.

With 'Skelly' now becoming the main game focus at this time, other previous project that i may of liked to of continued are now on the back burner, but not wasted. like i did with the 'Cowboy' shooter game, i released those assets on OGA with the intention of expanding on those at a later date(RPG Series). the game i worked on for the Opera GX game jam, the little space shooter that i didnt get to finish as i would of liked, has assets in that project  which i know people would like. I have been asked to do some space shooter asset previously and had always intended to do them so it makes perfect sense to release those assets. I have spent some time tidying them up and am happy to release them now, for all formats, SMS, NES and Gameboy. These are free. so a nice little bonus asset this month. :)

There we go, i think ive waffled on a little to long so i will leave you guys to it now. :)
