Oi Oi Gamedev and or Gamer!
Welcome to Novembers update. This months release is the 'Punishers'.
Asset Release:

I had a few issues with these. Mainly what happens when i use things like 'masks' or 'helmets', they don't quite fit with characters hair styles. the 'mask' in particular, as it covers all of the face, so small details of a character which separates it from others are lost in quite a fundamental way. Also hair styles stick out where they shouldn't and it doesn't look great if i'm honest. The end result is isolating the characters that don't work and what i end up with is maybe 4-5 characters instead of the usual standard 30. That really is disappointing, considering all the efforts i have made to have a variation of characters available within the packs.
Well, i suppose in hindsight i need to consider this now, as this will keep happening every time i use certain 'clothing' additions in future releases, that are going to trip me up, like they have this month. My only thing i can do really is to reduce those characters, and focus on the ones that will work fluidly and have the least problematic attributes, and use 'skin tone' variations. This will mean that i will most likely be dropping named characters going forward sadly, and used terms like 'Character A, B, C' or 'Skin type 1, 2, 3 maybe, i don't know at this point, i'm still figuring it out.
It's just one of those things that happen. You don't know what things can appear until you experiment, which i do a lot, and some times they come off great and then not so great, and adapting things to make things work is part of learning and evolving. Were see what happens in due coarse i suppose.
I have included all characters in the premium files as i normally would, so then maybe you will see what i mean. Free versions are unaffected as they are just one character.

OGA 'Fall' Game Jam 2022:
I have really missed rating games this year and i was pleased to be able to get back into the swing of things. So the OGA game jam seemed a good place to start again. :) So here are my ratings for them and the results.

Well done to all of the participants of the jam. :)

GMC Game Jam #47
The last time i rated games from the Gamemaker community was the GMC Game Jam #37. Quite some time ago. The last and only time i participated in a Gamemaker Game jam was the 'Opera GX' Jam, which didn't go that great. But this time i thought id have ago again. :)
The theme was 'Hazardous Environment', and heres what i came up with.

The gist of it is you(player) are a gardener, and you need to plant flowers. But the soil is contaminated by toxic waste, by fly tippers who keep throwing their waste in the garden. You need to de-contaminate the soil, plant a seed, water the seed, and grow a plant. however, the soil can get 'weedy', and these weeds will grow into mutant like flowers that will keep re-contaminate the soil growing more 'weedy' plots and be a hindrance to the player.
It went reasonably well, but as always, time got the best of me and i didn't get to do all the things i wanted to, and some cock ups were made in true Chaser fashion. LOL.
I don't expect to do well in the ratings, but it was a great idea to work on, and i think i will continue it later on.
I did do a 'devlog', but im still trying to write it up from all my notes, so il post that at some point.

Commission Work:
I took on my first paid commission work this month. I have done the odd unpaid commission here and there over the years, but this was the first time i have put time aside to do a paid one properly. Was quite exciting, and gave me a good opportunity to put my 'price guides' to work and see how they are. My commission work should be reflective of the ethos i have at keeping things affordable, but at the same time reasonable for me. Creating games can be expensive, even as a hobby, but if i can help those who's budget is really small have the assets they need to make their project then it happy days.
The game i made work for was titled 'Downhill', being submitted into the 20 second game jam. :)

OK, thats all for now, thanks for your continued support as always, and be safe during the December month, as we know its going to be busy and hectic. :)
Chaser :)
