February Update:

Oi Oi Gamedev and or Gamer!

Welcome to Februarys update.
Was a big push this month to get 3 characters completed as i move towards the end of the Medieval themed sprites. Hasn't been easy and my time felt very stretched, but i'm pleased to report that i did indeed get all 3 done.

Here they are:.

I did also try and squeeze a tile set in this month release. A 'Church' tile set to go with these 'clergy' characters, but unfortunately i just couldn't it finished in time. There's a few things i couldn't make my mind up on, so other than spend a few days tinkering with it and finalising, i was conscious that it would just delay the sprite release, so decided to wait until it was properly ready and released the sprites and posted them now as it is the beginning of the month.

Other thing that i have been doing is reducing the characters in the files, which you may have noticed. Free Files now include the one character with 3 skin tones, and Premium has 3 characters with 3 skin tones, instead of the usual 5/20+ respectively.

Now, i appreciate that it sounds a bit negative by 'reducing' the characters, and trust me i have contemplated this many times, and fought with myself about doing it, but ultimately it comes down to how good the characters are, and sometimes, when particular things get added to 'costumes', such as 'hats', the very small details that make that character unique and different to others is sadly lost, and would seem pointless. This is the problem working with small sprites with low colour counts.

However, I have worked really hard over the last few years to make the character sets, and it would be a real shame to lose all these characters as they have been. So these changes will only effect the file releases on itch.io(and others in the future). Patreons on tiers $1 & $3 will still receive the maximuim count of characters as before. I feel it should be left up to you if you think a character is worth it or not, and at least this way you can choose to use it or not. I think this is a happy compromise.

Roadmap Update:

Three more characters to go, which i hope to bring in the March Update. These should be followed by a tile set release of a 'Church', 'Housing' and a 'Tavern' at some point too.

I am also working on 16x16 versions of the sprites, which id like to release on conclusion of the 'medieval' themed assets.

Ok, i leave it there for now. As always, i'm on discord if anyone wants to reach out for anything, and a massive thank you for your continued support everyone, I really appreciate it.

Al the best.

Chaser :)
