Uhh, ComicFury has turned 13! Wait darn, I already said that in the title. I should have titled it something else, like "you'll never believe what incredibly unlucky number of years a website has existed??? (GONE SEXUAL?????)"
Now I know I never type anything on here, to be honest I'm kind of weird when it comes to money (and in general I guess), and the concept of accepting money for this whole thing makes me a little uncomfortable and anxious at times (at all times), so I'm naturally a bit inclined to try to avoid thinking about it, hence the patreon stays very empty. I've been meaning to make a post thanking all the loyal patrons like this for a while, but I always end up putting it off, but not today.
So, thank you. I know being a ComicFury patron is generally a very thankless job, there's no rewards, you don't get any exclusive benefits. I wanted to keep the site fully free and not require people to spend money to "get the full experience" of using the site, so to speak. And like I said, I get a bit anxious around the exchange of money which further exacerbates the situation. Nevertheless, for the site's 13th birthday, I want to force myself out of my shell a bit and say a big hefty thank you to y'all for keeping things running. It really means the world to me that so many people believe in what we've built here and are willing to part with their hard earned money to keep CF afloat. You are all great, give yourself a big fat pat on the back and pretend it's from me.
I appreciate you all to death, and I apologize for being pretty terrible at showing that, but I hope that my continued work on the site can at least make up for it a little bit. May ComicFury thrive for another 13 years to come, and more.

2021-07-13 20:48:22 +0000 UTCWhen you consider the alternatives, smackjeeves went under, and sites like tapas and webtoon are formatted ONLY for vertical-scrolling style comics, and don't allow you to edit your page at all. In terms of customization and user-friendliness for creators, comicfury has them beat hands-down.

2021-07-09 04:27:56 +0000 UTCI don't have any basis by which to evaluate which platform is the most robust, but ComicFury certainly has the one that lets me feel the least anxious about creators who are taking a break, without making me feel like I absolutely must check my comics every day lest my feed overwhelm me like Patreon does. I do not understand what is so hard about just presenting a page that lists what comics have had updates and letting you click from there to see what's new with each. But only ComicFury seems to even attempt this. To be clear, I'm not sure ComicFury has it exactly right. I'm not sure what exactly right is. But when only one platform is on the right continent, being in the right ballpark is vastly better than all the other options.

And knowing that this site is going to be there and completely free for as long as you can manage, for all sorts of people to host their comics no matter how new they are at it or what their skill level, means even more than that! So I'll always be happy to help support CF in any way I can :) Here's to another thirteen years <3

Comic Fury is seriously the only place I feel comfortable/not overwhelmed commenting in the forums ^-^ Everyone is super cool, and it really feels like the community I've been missing since Manga Tutorials went defunct. So thank you, and the community, for being so awesome! Truly a one of a kind site :D (I love communities on other sites, too, but this one feels like "home" to me :3 )
