I had no theme at all for it, just a pose in mind and a desire to do a big gag. I sometimes struggle with doing larger gags as I want them to be big but not ridiculously so. Not so much because of preference, but I just find that if I make them too big then it's hard to get the rest of the face to work.
I like the overall simplicity of this image as it kind of feels to me like this could have been plucked right out of the middle of a comic book. It feeds into that long-shot fantasy that maybe one day I could do such a thing... Maybe.
