[Update] New models, Unreal Engine 5 ports and more

Hi!

A "quick" update on what I'm working on (and why it's taking a lot of time to finish some models).

OC models

The new models I'm making (Yuki and a new one, Hinata - in the picture below and in the UE5 preview) are based on G9, which created a lot of issues to work with. Among the issues, there were no official facial rig so I had to make one from scratch similar to the one already available on Genesis 8. I am still working to make it better, almost there. Plus, some little bugs are still there but I hope to release a usable version soon.

Unreal Engine 5 port

Another idea was to port at least the OC models to Unreal Engine 5 (Yuki, Hinata and Alysia). That might boost their visibility, especially if they come with all the fancy stuffs of UE already available. You could use them in your games directly, without the hassle to port them from Blender. Plus, since they are complete new OCs, in principle you could use them without any potential copyright issue.

I worked on making it usable with standard character blueprints (just drag and drop in your game scene), and with modular outfits (you can change between different outfits, or remove them altogether). Also it will feature a very rough but usable jiggle physics. One thing that I'm still trying to figure out is how to properly add morphs to the model from Daz (if someone has any idea, let me know!).

And I know what you're thinking, what about the non-OC models? I am not sure it would be smart to port them to UE due to copyright issues. But I'm also experimenting with Eve so that in principle you could add her in your game. No promises here though.

If someone knows about UE and want to try the models, please let me know. I'm sure I could use some feedback on what a game creator would like to see. :D

I was also thinking about releasing a mini-game just to show the models in a dedicated environment. Who knows...

I have some models that I'm trying to finish. More info soon. Sorry for the lack of updates in this regard, but I want to be sure to meet some minimum quality standard before showing something.

Plus I would like to work on an update on Lara, she deserves at least a couple more outfits. :)

If you get an OC over to UE5, I have no problems using that model for awhile to tinker in my own projects. No problem updating you with some user experience as well! 🫑
