Friday Rambles 05/27/2022

Wow! It's already Friday (technically Saturday)!

I went to Fanime today. It was pretty great going to an anime convention for the first time in like 3 years. I did the rounds through the Artist Alley and the Dealers Hall, buying stuff and scoping out how other artists set up their booths so I know what to do whenever I get the opportunity to table at a con. Not a lot of people did OC stuff (unless it was like general cute animal/food characters), so I figure I'll have to make some prints of IPs more people will actually know, or make more generally interesting OC stuff. 

I still refuse to make fanart of things I don't actually care about, so I'm basically limited to Touhou, Chainsaw Man, Va11-Halla, and Helltaker. Which is probably fine because they don't seem very well represented in Artist Alley, either. It was like all Pokemon and Demon Slayer and Genshin Impact. Am I just out of touch????

It was so crowded, but there was a vaccine and mask requirement in place, so uhh, probably safe as it'll ever be, but I still really hope I didn't catch anything.

Came home, ate chicken.

This week I tried drawing several times and it didn't work out too good. It's as if I forgot how to draw again. So I just quickly threw together a Kobeni to try and get out of the rut. Pbbpbpppffbpbfhfbb. I guess I should probably just spend some time studying instead.

The Blythe plushie campaign is going to go live next week, on Thursday. I've written up a script for the comic I'm posting with the launch, so I'll be drawing it out in the next couple days. I hope the Blythe plushie does well, but I know it's a ridiculous expectation for it to match the sales of the Skye plushie, which came out before like 20 other artists had a plushie campaign, and before a big ol economic slowdown, and before a big ol hiatus. If it does even half as much I'll be happy...

My DDR pad arrived from Poland, and as expected, I'm very out of practice. I'll try to git gud, but I don't have the stamina for multi hour sessions yet, so it'll probably be a while before I'm back to where I used to be (if I ever do).
