Team Dinner Full Res and Commentary

Timelapse is here! I've been using the Patreon Lens (Stories) feature for wips lately, so I figured I'd add a wip sketch here too.

This is sort of a continuation from the last comic featuring Penny and Whiskey. It's Friday and they're having a team dinner. Whiskey is Whiskey, and Penny is feeling uh... emotions

Anyway, I don't think I've really done a piece with so many props in the picture, so it was a good study in painting some non-character stuff, and having the characters exist in a setting in general.

And yeah, it's the same place they're always at! More or less. Oh geez some of these are so old...

Overall I'm fairly happy with how the pic turned out. Admittedly I rushed a bit last night because I wanted it out by Friday morning, but at that point I had already worked on this piece too long and was a bit sick of working on it anyway lol. But I think even this level of uhh "completeness" is rare for me, so I'm pretty happy I was able to do that. I hope many of my future pieces can be as "complete" as well.

But also, working through this I also felt a need to do some real deliberate studying, so I can better draw the style I'm seeing in my head, rather than what I end up making just doing what I think works. Sure, I have my style, but it's a little different from where I want to end up, which, idk, I feel like is kind of like willing yourself to change your handwriting. And also I don't want to learn bad habits when there are easier and more effective ways of doing the same things I'm trying to do that I don't know when it comes to painting.

Switching gears, after I posted this, I got so many lovely comments on Instagram about how much they love the characters and the lil story that's going on with them, and I felt really happy and motivated about it. Which is why I love Insta, despite Facebook's insane drive lately to completely ruin the platform, but anyway... I'll enjoy it while I can... Twitter too, of course, but I think Insta has more passion about em, for whatever reason. Anyway I love my followers.

That's a lot of words for a silly pic of two people at a team dinner. I hope I can draw more OC stuff soon. I've joked that Penny and Whiskey are my new "Main Duo" because Skye quit her job and Hana is "on leave" from the company, so I reckon they'll be more prominent in my works for the time being, lol. At least until the new Airfrye with Skye arc...
