Friday Rambles 8/12/2022

Another week another rambles!

This week I drew a bunch of sketches for stickers in a single sitting and was feeling pretty good and hoping to quickly knock out the lines and colors too, which was a huge miscalculation on my part. the blythe pic took like 2 evenings by itself, so it'll probably take another week to finish them all for printing.

i'm also hoping to make a new set of va11halla stickers for the next shop opening, but i'm actually not sure i'll be able to pull that off. i think i'm going to do 1-2 new stickers a month for those. That gives a reason for people to keep coming back maybe 😈

I also have an idea for a bonus item to pack with every order, that'll be updated every month. it's a surprise though, for the customers. ;-)

Overall it's a nice new challenge thinking of new stickers and ways to make the shop more fun. i hope people enjoy it too.

It's been 2 months since I quit my job! So far I'm having a real good time not thinking about work. I've been sleeping well, exercising, not having weird health issues from stress, traveled a bit, and I've been reconsidering what I consider important. I'm sometimes still a little too focused on "staying productive" but I'm mostly enjoying the downtime. I still have the rest of the year before my soft deadline to get a job again. Anyway that's why I'm posting less now than when I was juggling art with a full time job. 

Also I don't want everything I make to be quick bite sized shitposts anymore, I want most if not all of my art to be actually finished and polished works. It'll be a weird and awkward transition period where my stuff kinda isn't that great, but I have confidence that I'll eventually get better at the stuff I actually want to get better at. blah blah blah

Stuff I consumed:

• Ace Attorney Trilogy: I'm still playing this on my SteamDeck. I realized that the SteamDeck is a really good text heavy game player, because I can play it chilling on the couch or whatever instead of at my computer. Will probably play Va11halla again too, for the achievements.
• Two-Point Campus: It's a new game from the people who made Two-Point Hospital. I've never played the predecessor, but Two-Point Campus is on GamePass so I decided to try it out. I thought it was a little tedious and boring but I only played the tutorial campus, I guess. So I'll try it a bit more, it's not like I'm spending any extra for it lol
• Bob's Burgers: I only watch Bob's Burgers now. I think it's my 3rd watchthrough of the entire series.
• CITY: Keiichi Arawi's non-Nichijou manga series. I bought the first book and read the first chapter. So far pretty weird (in a good way), I'll have to sit down and actually read it though.
• The Art of Posuka Demizu: Very cool artbook. I find the artist's art refreshingly loose and sketchy and yet still super well composed and complete, drawn with the awesome dynamic angles I like. Anyway, plenty to find inspiration from here. I actually haven't read the Promised Neverland, I probably should...
