Some news, both good and not-so-good.
The good news, our artist for Swarm of the Symbiotes is safe and we're finally moving again. Our artist for Artifact is hanging in there, but is doing some self-care for the time being. I've been spending the week wrapping up some of the added Artifact content, and hope to move on to bug testing by the weekend.
As for the rest of the news, well, Unity really dropped the ball recently. In more or less words, Unity has announced that they will be charging for each and every individual install of software made from their engine. This has terrible implications and ramifications for many developers, especially smaller ones such as myself.
Because of this move, and especially because I do not want to support this practice, I am no longer making Swarm of the Symbiotes in the Unity engine. I wish they could have made this move before I started spending time and resources on Unity, but I'm also glad that they did it before I got too far into the process.
Since the art still remains the biggest hurdle, it's unclear how long the act of rebuilding my progress in another engine may affect the development time.
Here's a first go at the next suit iteration, likely to go through some more changes.
