Sapphire Safari - Peepin' n' Sneakin' v020

Hello explorers! Welcome to another patch day for Sapphire Safari. Version 020 is about stealth, and getting proper feedback for sneaking around the island. Let’s get into it.

Stealth and UX

As hinted in the last two dev blogs we have been working on getting the UX and UI for stealth feedback working and feeling solid. The way monsters react to you needed to be completely reworked to make the system we will be launching today which is why it took us a little longer than expected to get everything together.

Here is the breakdown of how it all functions:

This UI of the awareness/alerted states will not show up within photos you take, so no need to worry about their presentation affecting your photo scores. Here are some other tips you should know about.

Photo Submission

We overhauled the submission UI for photos, allowing for a cleaner breakdown of the photo submission process. Simply choose which monster girl you want to submit for and it will show off what photo categories are currently applicable. We will be adding a whole lot more categories in the future, so this should help keep it all user-friendly and clean.

DirectX 12 Default

There has recently been a Unreal Engine 5 update making DX12 performance a lot nicer, on modern machines we are looking at roughly 20 frames increase by using DX12 as a renderer. So as of v020 Sapphire Safari is using DX12 as the default rendering solution. Meaning if you have an older system you will need to launch the game with one of the included .bat files which is included in the main directory for the game installation. Please use either DX11 or Vulkan.

Changelog v020

That’s all for now! Be sure to enjoy the new update! I will leave you all with some lovely cuddle photos I was able to take with the new stealth system in play.

Seems like Mint users may have issues with Vulkan, but that can be circumvented by using wine.

There isn't anything that will flag an anti virus. I suggest you begin your search for the culprit in other areas of your PC.

Kinky Fridays

Why do all antiviruses complain that there is a serious virus in the exe and block it?

EvilExidnA

All, you just need to make sure your driver's are up to date. People were running out of date vulkan drivers and we're getting errors.

Kinky Fridays

Which Linux distros does the game currently work on?

Bruh Boi

Just tested it some more and it isn't being repeated (happened twice the first time I tested) so it must have been essentially a one time weirdness? I don't know for sure, but it's working now. Keep up the great work!

Okay, we will take a look at that. Bushes and hiding spots are deadzones so it might be screwing with the logic.

Kinky Fridays

Just tried out the update, have to say I do really like the changes. However, there is one thing that I do want to know if is intentional, because it doesn't feel like it should be. This is when you are spotted, like completely, and then go into a bush, the mon that was literally already running away from you goes back to the "where did they go?" searching animation. I feel like they should keep running (at least for a few more seconds instead of immediately stopping) seeing as they did already spot you completely, they know you're there. If that is intentional, then no worries, I get hiding back in the bushes should throw off anybody searching for you, just when already spotted it feels off.
