Hey!

Here's the first of a small series of walkthrough videos where I'm going to be sharing my approaches to art and how I think about the execution of drawings/render. In these videos I'm open to cover whatever you'd like to see me cover, this first one shares my line approach for comics in Clip Studio as well as my thumbnailing approach for Photoshop.

If you have anything you would like to see me cover specifically please leave a comment on this post and I will start making a list of topics to touch on in these videos!

Thanks as always for your support!

Dave

Anthony Azekwoh

haha I love how you ended the video with "Imagine if this was a live video suicide and blood just splattered all over the skeleton *looks at camera* well thanks for your support goodbye."

Seth Laster

Dave, this is so awesome! Great content and presentation. Big appreciation for this video and the series to come.

Oronoro

Thank you so much for the video!

Skully

Thanks for the video. I'd love to know about your still life set up.

Latrozin

This is the kind of stuff I signed up for. I love how you split up the process between when your thinking more comics vs when your thinking more photoshop illustration, showing off the basics in each program almost like they were different mediums makes it seem less complicated to me.

Zak Maxwell

Loved it! I'd like t to see something about how you choose colors in your works so that they look great together, also how you paint skin tones.

Eugene Edge

This was so fucking great! Thank you so much for this, looking forward to more.

Dylan Thunderbuckus

Thanks for the insight. I would be interest in seeing how you come up with your composition or study habits to improve your composition.

Jaz McDaniel

James Dwyer Hybrid X

Thank you for the step by step video! My only suggestions is more skulls please.

Aaron Randall

This was the best skeleton anyone has ever drawn. Great instruction Dave.

Jayna Pavlin

I finally learned how to draw glasses with skulls on em! Seriously though this was super helpful, thanks so much for putting this together.

timdegroote

Thanks Dave! I would love to see a video on constructing the features of the face from various angles in your style.

Leighton Chance

This really cool to watch, thanks for everything ^-^ A question for a future video would be how to keep yourself from getting distracted by everything in the world and keeping your mind focused on what actually matters. I know this more of a life question, but it's one of those issues I've been struggling with for a while.

Lucyan J. C. (cyangorilla)

Thank you for making this man! Hearing what artists think when they're working is super helpful to me because it kinda shapes the thoughts that I should be having when I'm doing my own thing, which I think is a pretty important but generally under-emphasized part of the process. Would you be willing to do a portrait study? You already provide really good insight when you're doing commentary, but I think there is a lot to learn from seeing how someone directly interprets and translates information from a study.

Louis Whitworth

Awesome. Thank you Dave!

Liam Wong

also - I mentioned this in the post, but please leave suggestions for what you'd like to see me cover in future videos

David Rapoza

I always hoped you'd make a series about your process. Really excited and looking forward to more!

Alex Edinger

I am constantly making faces while I draw so keep an eye to catch them all.

David Rapoza
