"Fuck You - A Basketball Manga" - Concept Art

We're finally here, we're back to comics and I couldn't be more excited - I'm working on the script for this one, got a ton down already and am just starting to concept out everyone in the series so I know the style/vibe for the whole thing. It's really important to nail down how this manga will look before I start, I don't want to be deep into this with the style suddenly shifting into something totally different.
So, these are some loose ideas I've come up with so far - I'm gonna be playing with a lot more though, this is just the beginning before I figure out the look and feel of the manga. This comic definitely falls in the surreal/horror comedy kind of area, sort of like Garfield was but from what I've read to people so far it's a bit darker. It's coming along very easily though so that's great.

2024-05-16 19:06:36 +0000 UTCMan I adore all of those, but my fave is probably the rough dynamic one in the bottom left corner- speedy feel does it for me. I really love that every character has so much movement going on, especially in hair- man those swishy swooshes are the thickest kind of cream. Might be a weird thing to point out, but I love the heavy vintage eyeliner everyone's wearing- I tend to gravitate towards this kind of eye-style with dense blacks and eyelashes that could give me a solid porcupine treatment. Can't wait to see more designs and the way you absolutely and utterly abuse their quality for comedic reasons <3
