Hope you're doing good! Wanted to share a couple things I've touched on to experiment around - these were both started using the clip studio brush attached - this brush has a great amount of control, it has wet edges but you can turn those off if you want a smoother look, I generally paint with it around 60% opacity.
Both of these were started in a grayscale approach but with slightly muted colors mixed in and then painted up as I went in color - these were then worked on in Photoshop to render everything out and colorize it all. You can see this process in the PSD attached - I left all the layers intact so you could see the whole process.
I'll have a more comprehensive breakdown of what I'm doing up soon - I've also begun the final render on all the Chrono Trigger characters - I fixed a decent amount of what felt awkward to me so I'm feeling good about the process!
