Hey!
Hope you're well! I wanted to share - while my hands are a bit messed up - some of my initial sketches compared to the finals. These are some of my chicken scratch ideas that I put in my sketchbooks to knock out ideas before fleshing things out with tighter drawings on the tablet. You can more or less see how things translate over to the final but most of what I'm looking to accomplish is a sense of the composition and posing/movement throughout the illustrations.
What I see in my head is similar to the final but it takes me redrawing a couple times and figuring out all the pieces before it starts to come into view - rarely am I 100% honed in on what the totality of the painting will be - I have a general sense but lighting, colors and placement are still up in the air most of the time.
My hope in sharing stuff like this is to give a clearer look into my thought process so that making big montage paintings seems a bit less intimidating. When you break things down into manageable steps and don't get too focused on things being perfect, these paintings can come together a bit easier.
The rest of the sketches are just some looser drawings I grabbed while skimming through my sketchbook for some stuff to share!
Thanks as always for your support!
Dave
