Mr. Dubois' Farm: Movie Magic Part 02

The scene was set and easy enough to shoot. All Frank had to do was go out through the front door and look up to the sky to see the superhero descend down onto the ground in a usual superhero fashion. And somehow he just looked so good doing it. Matthew wasn’t sure what it was about the man, but he looked so much more appealing than what he thought he would. Somehow Frank just looked so good doing it.

“It’s the working out,” Mr. Dubois had snuck up behind Matthew again. He smiled seeing that the young PA jumped nearly as much as he had the last time.

“Must be,” Matthew said. He tried to keep his cool but couldn’t help but wonder how Mr. Dubois knew what he was thinking. Though, the way he was staring at the older man, maybe it was more obvious than he thought. “He’s taken it a lot more seriously than I thought he would.”

“Oh course he has! Years of healthy eating and working out is good for anyone,” Mr. Dubois said. “Just look at those strong muscles. Even though he’s so much older than most the guys here, I’m sure he’s one of the strongest.”

Matthew looked around. He nodded in agreement. “I guess so.”

“You guess?” Mr. Dubois leaned down next to Matthew’s ear. His voice lowered into something far more seductive. “Just look at those strong arms. They fill the sleeves of almost any shirt that he’s wearing. And his chest pushes hard against that plaid shirt. Even though he’s wearing overalls you can still see the strong muscles in his legs and you’ve had so much trouble hiding what’s between them that I’m sure you do a lot more than guessing.”

Every bit of Matthew stiffened at the description. Moreso because all of it was true. But hearing Mr. Dubois’ sensual voice describe it felt almost surreal. As though the more Mr. Dubois said the more he started to change. Frank seemed to be buffer. And then there was that monster between his legs. Even now, Matthew could almost make out a bit of an outline running down the left leg of his overalls.

“Am I wrong?”

It was almost like Mr. Dubois was egging Matthew on. “No,” but Matthew still had to force himself to look away. “But I don’t think you need to go around describing it…”

“C’mon,” Mr. Dubois smiled deviously. His soft breathy voice hit Matthew's ear. “He knows he’s hot. And I bet he doesn’t mind it when you watch him change…”

“I don’t watch him change!” Matthew shouted. He stamped his foot to add a bit of emphasis to his point. A few of the other crew members looked his way and then went back to what they were doing. Again, red filled his face as embarrassment took over.

“Sorry. I guess I should have said he wouldn’t mind if you watched him change,” there was still a suggestively raised eyebrow as he said it.

Mr. Dubois clearly wanted reaction but all Matthew did was give off an unimpressed, ‘hmph,’ and tried to focus on something else. Luckily Grant was calling for him again. They’d just finished shooting the scene and going to start shooting the next one. The director saw Matthew in the distance and walked over to him. “Alright, I need you to go get Luke ready for the superhero landing and then make sure Clark is ready right after. I want to shoot them in sequence so there isn’t too much change in the cloud cover. We don’t have all day so…” His eyes turned to Mr. Dubois. “And you are?”

“This is--”

“I’m Mr. Dubois. I own this farm,” he held out his hand and let the director shake it. The rancher’s hand completely engulfed the director’s but that didn’t stop Grant from trying to act tough. Even if the director grimaced at the difference in strength between them.

“Of course. I’m so happy you were so accommodating for us,” Grant kept his appearance professional despite all the things he’d said about all the nasty things he’d said about fly over country in private. “It’s such a lovely place.”

“I make sure of that,” Mr. Dubois had just as cheesy of a smile as Grant. Somehow the director didn’t seem to notice. “And I hope you don’t mind that I put out some of my milk for your employees. It’s tastes great and will help them work all day without getting tired.”

“Oh?” Grant’s head cocked slightly to the side. He looked skeptical, but nodded and presented the same fake smile he always did. “I’ll have to try some later.”

“Please do. I’m sure you’ll love it so much you’ll start begging to drink it from the tap,” Mr. Dubois laughed.

Grant’s eyes shifted slightly towards Matthew but he let out a similar laugh to Mr. Dubois. He’d learned it was usually best to imitate those around him to stave off any bad interactions. “I’ll take your word for it. Now,” his attention focused solely on Matthew. “Go get Luke and come back here with him and then make sure that Clark is ready. Got it?”

“Yes sir,” Matthew said. His body almost saluted as he did so. In that brief moment he realized that Grant was about to shout, ‘Now!’ so Matthew quickly turned around and headed back towards the trailers. There were still so many people running around but Luke was luckily waiting under one of the tents. He was dressed in the full red and blue spandex costume ready to go.

Matthew jogged over in that direction. “Luke!” he called out getting the other man’s attention. Luke looked up from his phone, smiled and waved his hand. In that hand was one of the bottles to Mr. Dubois’ milk. Matthew smiled through his teeth. “You know you’re not supposed to be eating or drinking anything in that costume… We only have one of those.”

“I know,” Luke said. “But Chad was saying just how good this milk was and gave me a taste. And I just couldn’t put it down. It was seriously one of the best things I’ve ever drank. Man…” he took another swig out of the bottle and a bit of a white mustache filled the top of his lips.

“Still,” Matthew growled. He felt his hands flex at the potential of anything getting on the costume. “You shouldn’t be eating or drinking anything in costume.” He tried to quell his anger as he grabbed a napkin off the concession table. “Please.”

“Right,” Luke nodded. “Sorry.”

Mr. Dubois stepped in. “No harm done. But if you care so much about the costume don’t you think it should fit him a little better?”

“Huh?” Matthew looked over Luke. It looked like it fit him fine. Maybe a little snug, but nothing too bad. That was more to show off his musculature. Luke was a perfect fit for a stand in for Clark. His body may not have been perfectly toned, but the size, shape and face was easy enough to recognize as Clark’s in the few short frames he’d be on screen. Then there was the motion blur during his stunts that would help remove any doubt that it was still the star. After all, no one went to go see these guys. They want a star.

“I mean…” Luke shuffled in his costume. “It’s a little snug. But nothing too bad.” It seemed to have tightened against his muscular body showing off every curve of him just a little bit better. It was a wonder how he could move while the spandex seemed to be fighting against him.

“Really? Hmmmm…” Mr. Dubois brought a finger to his lips. “You sure. Hey, you wanna be honest with me. Do you like the way you look?”

“Well… I mean… I…” Luke stumbled over his words. It was like he wanted to say that he was fine but the words wouldn’t come out. “It’s not that big of a deal, but I wouldn’t mind being a bit bigger and stronger. And maybe a little more handsome,” he finally said. By no means was he ugly, but he also didn’t have that ‘Je ne sais quoi’ face that so many famous actors had. In a normal setting he would have probably drawn quite a few eyes on him but in Hollywood he was painfully average.

“Hmmm…” Mr. Dubois seemed to be thinking something over.

Matthew interrupted it. “Just go find Grant and be ready for your shoot. Okay?”

“Right,” Luke nodded and started off towards the cameras.

“What was that about?” Matthew looked up at Mr. Dubois who didn’t respond right away. “You know what? Nevermind. I’ve got to go find Clark.” He started off for the trailers with Mr. Dubois right behind him. Matthew tried to ignore it but something just felt off. The way he was talking to Luke or what he’d said to Grant earlier just felt so strange. “Are you going to follow me all day?”

“Hmmm? Mr. Dubois acted like nothing was amiss.

Matthew took a deep breath. “Look, I don’t want to sound unappreciative but why are you following me?”

There was that handsome smirk across Mr. Dubois’ face again. “I just like to know what’s going on around my farm. I promise I won’t get in the way. Okay?”

The sweet and sincere nature in Mr. Dubois’ voice sent Matthew for a loop. He almost felt a bit dizzy, but maybe it was just because he was so close to such a handsome man. And hearing him sound so genuine while treating Matthew with respect was so unusual for the young PA he almost felt a bit of something else too. “O--kay,” he agreed. “Let's go get Clark and then."
