Ian looks younger in his original (pyro)elemental form because aging works differently for his kind so instead of wrinkles and such - the magma in his body slowly solidifies making (unique) patterns. the older - the more solid parts
(plus he's like a thousand+ years old. their age gap in this AU is... 600 years at least lmao)
