Exclusive Sword and Shield App Update!

To show our appreciation to you all, we wanted to give you an exclusive update on the progress of the Sword and Shield app which will hopefully answer any questions that you have.

It’s a bit of a read, so get comfortable!

When will the Sword and Shield app be available for early access?

We are working round the clock to get the app up and running as soon as possible. We had originally hoped to launch the app to our early access Patreon supporters in mid-January, but with the news of the Expansion Pass we are looking at a very minimal delay while we ensure that we will be compatible with this. As soon as we have a more definite idea, we will let you know.

Remember that you must be on a Leader, Elite or Master tier in order to receive early access!

Can we get Sword and Shield Pokemon in the meantime?

Yes! 

As you probably know, our Elite and Master tier supporters receive Mythical Pokemon traded to them every month. Elite patrons receive 1 Pokemon per month while Master patrons receive 3 per month. You now have the option to request Sword and Shield Pokemon instead, traded directly to your new games.

We recently added more slots to these tiers, so if you’re on a Trainer or Leader tier you now have the option to upgrade your membership and enjoy these additional perks.

How will the app work without the GTS?

We can’t give away all our secrets, but we can say that our new app doesn’t need the GTS at all. We will simply trade the Pokemon to you via Link Trade! This means that you will need to be online at the same time as us, but we’ve worked out a simple and effective system that will keep the trades flowing smoothly.

Will we still need to trade a Caterpie?

Your Caterpie-hunting days are over - you will now be able to trade ANY Pokemon to us, regardless of species or level!

Will the Sword and Shield app be an update of Creatorpi, or will it be a completely new app?

It will be a completely new and exciting app! As Sword and Shield works with the Switch while Sun and Moon works with the 3DS, we weren’t able to simply update Creatorpi as the games run on two completely different systems. So we decided to leave Creatorpi as it is (it will still work for as long as the GTS is operational in Sun and Moon) and create a brand new app for Sword and Shield.

Will our Creatorpi coins transfer to the new Sword and Shield app?

It’s looking unlikely this will be the case as (especially at launch) we will only be able to do so many trades each day on Sword and Shield. Don’t worry, there will still be enough for everyone! However if all of our Creatorpi users (there are a LOT of you!) move their coins over at once we simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with demand and the app would fall over ><

To be honest we would much rather charge a single price for the app and not even use coins, but then the app simply wouldn’t be usable for the majority of users as we would get too many trades to handle each day.

We are still working on what we can do for our current Creatorpi users, as they mean a lot to us! 

What kind of Pokemon will we be able to create with the Sword and Shield app?

In short… almost anything legal! We have included the ability to create Gigantamax Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon and add the Dynamax feature. Of course you will still be able to create shiny Pokemon, and with the new app you can create ultra-rare square shiny Pokemon!

Just remember, the Pokemon must be legal and appear in Sword and Shield.

As event Pokémon are released we will add these to the app as well!

Will there be unlimited coins on the Sword and Shield app?

Not at first. For the same reasons as above, unlimited coins put a huge amount of strain on the app and our ability to trade.

As the app grows however we might be able to invest in getting more help, then we might be able to add unlimited coins one day. We know how popular this option was in Creatorpi! We just need to make it work so the app doesn’t struggle keeping up with trades.

What other functions will be included?

We’re happy to say that we have listened to your feedback and have included the ability to choose your Pokeball! We have also added a working button for Pokerus, which many people requested.

Another exciting improvement is with the legality check - if you accidentally create an illegal Pokemon, you will now receive feedback telling you what is wrong with it. That should make life easier for everyone!

What will happen with the monthly coin rewards?

We’re happy to confirm that once we release the Sword & Shield app, your monthly coin rewards will become compatible with it. This means you will be able to use your monthly free coins to create Pokemon for Sword & Shield!

What will the app be called?

A few people have been asking us this question, and we have stayed quiet. We wanted our Patreon supporters to be the first to know, and we can now reveal that the Sword and Shield app will be named… Swoosh!
